Romney, Gingrich proceed carefully in GOP showdown (AP)
MANCHESTER, N.H. ? The once-bursting 2012 Republican presidential field is narrowing to a two-man race, and GOP voters have one month before casting the first votes to winnow it to one. Barring a dramatic new turn, their chief options will be the steady but often bland demeanor of Mitt Romney and the idea-a-minute bombast of Newt Gingrich. Herman Cain’s suspension of his campaign Saturday, and Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s continued struggles to regain traction, have focused the party’s attention on Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, and Gingrich, the former House speaker. They offer striking contrasts in personality, government experience and

It’s been only a month since SimpleGeo co-founder Joe Stump?left his last company, following its acquisition by Urban Airship, but he’s already launching a new product (and company) today called Sprintly. The company was actually founded in March by Stump’s co-founder Graham Blache, and Stump tells me he’s “been plotting this product for nearly a decade.” ?The startup is completely bootstrapped so far. Sprintly is a simple project management tool that is built for both software developers and other people in a company who rely on them. It is designed to remove the frustrations developers have with working in their
Powerful mathematical model greatly improves predictions for species facing climate change

The research, federally funded by the National Science Foundation, is published Dec. 2 in the journal Science. The team’s groundbreaking integral projection model, or IPM, unites various sub-disciplines of population biology, including population ecology, quantitative genetics, population genetics, and life-span and offspring information, allowing researchers to link many different data sources simultaneously. Scientists can now change just

Some atheist scientists with children embrace religious traditions, according to new research
ScienceDaily (Dec. 1, 2011) ? Some atheist scientists with children embrace religious traditions for social and personal reasons, according to research from Rice University and the University at Buffalo — The State University of New York (SUNY). The study also found that some atheist scientists want their children to know about different religions so their children can make informed decisions about their own religious preferences. “Our research shows just how tightly linked religion and family are in U.S. society — so much so that even some of society’s least religious people find religion to be important in their private lives,”
Europe Accuses Google of Monopoly Abuse
They’re using their huge market share to unfairly promote their other products left and right. You mean, like every business on earth, they use their existing mind share to promote their other products. Unless you actually want to fine Boeing for advertising their regional jets when they’re selling their intercontinental jets, you’re full of hot air. They have the most dominant position to do this too – the largest search engine on planet. Only if you define the planet by Europe and US. Russia isn’t so enamored with Google, and China… well, we know about China. You can, of course,

Appearing on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Gary Giordano defended his actions in the wake of Robyn Gardner’s disappearance, criticized his former attorney and said the Aruban economy was driven by cocaine and human trafficking.
